Wisconsin Bird Control for Commercial & Industrial Facilities

Midwest Bird Control provides professional bird control services throughout Wisconsin for commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities. Bird activity across Wisconsin impacts everything from large manufacturing plants and warehouses to smaller structural areas such as canopies, overhangs, bridges, loading docks, and covered walkways.

We specialize in controlling pigeons, house sparrows, European starlings, and seagulls using long-term, exclusion-based solutions designed for facilities that require reliable, professional results.

Bird Control Challenges Facing Wisconsin Facilities

Wisconsin’s mix of manufacturing, agriculture, transportation corridors, and cold-weather infrastructure creates ideal conditions for birds to roost and nest on commercial structures.

Common challenges include:

Safety Hazards

Bird droppings on walkways, loading docks, bridge structures, parking areas, and platforms increase slip-and-fall risk for employees, contractors, and the public.

Sanitation & Compliance Concerns

Accumulated droppings, feathers, and nesting materials create sanitation issues in regulated environments, including food-adjacent and processing facilities.

Structural & Infrastructure Damage

Bird waste accelerates corrosion on steel, stains concrete, clogs drainage systems, and damages lighting and mechanical components.

Operational & Maintenance Impact

Recurring cleanups, blocked access points, and nesting in overhead structures increase labor costs and disrupt normal operations.

Bird Species Commonly Controlled in Wisconsin

Facilities throughout Wisconsin commonly experience pressure from the following species:

Pigeon Control

Pigeons are the most persistent problem bird across Wisconsin facilities. They roost heavily on ledges, beams, bridges, parking structures, dock canopies, and industrial rooftops.

Sparrow Control

House sparrows nest in tight structural gaps, signage, soffits, overhangs, and covered entryways common on commercial buildings.

Starling Control

Starlings form large flocks and frequently enter industrial buildings through openings, creating noise, droppings, and sanitation issues.

Seagull Control

Seagulls pressure facilities near ports, waterways, transfer stations, landfills, and open industrial sites, particularly along Lake Michigan and major river systems.

Wisconsin Facilities & Property Types We Serve

Midwest Bird Control works with a wide range of commercial, industrial, and infrastructure-related properties across Wisconsin, including:

Manufacturing & Industrial Plants

Large rooflines, exposed steel, overhead cranes, conveyors, and production areas attract persistent bird activity.

Warehouses & Distribution Centers

High-bay facilities experience roosting in rafters, dock canopies, loading areas, and overhead steel.

Agricultural & Grain Facilities

Birds impact grain handling areas, storage structures, processing buildings, and covered equipment zones.

Parking Structures & Garages

Multi-level garages experience heavy pigeon roosting on beams, lighting, ledges, and drainage systems.

Canopies, Overhangs & Covered Walkways

Smaller structural features such as entry canopies, fuel canopies, pedestrian overhangs, and loading shelters are frequent roosting locations.

Bridges & Transportation Infrastructure

Birds roost and nest on bridge structures, underpasses, rail corridors, and transportation-related infrastructure.

Rail Facilities & Maintenance Locations

Covered rail maintenance areas and rail-served facilities experience ongoing pigeon and starling pressure.

Bird Control Solutions Designed for Wisconsin Facilities

Midwest Bird Control provides site-specific, long-term bird control solutions based on structure design, bird behavior, and operational requirements.

Industrial Bird Netting

Bird netting creates a physical barrier that prevents birds from accessing rafters, beams, bridge undersides, canopies, and overhead structures.

Structural Exclusion Systems

Exclusion methods block birds from landing or nesting on ledges, overhangs, signage, dock edges, and architectural features.

Integrated Facility-Wide Plans

Larger Wisconsin facilities often require multi-zone solutions to prevent birds from relocating to untreated areas.

Professional Installation

All systems are professionally installed to withstand Wisconsin weather conditions, including snow loads, freeze-thaw cycles, wind, and temperature extremes.

Installing Hardware Around The Perimeter

Fuel Depot Canopy Madison, WI

fuel canopy in Madison, WI with bird issues

Customer was a contractor who just built this fuel depot canopy.  He recognized the  need to keep birds out from the very start and Midwest Bird Control was contracted to install the bird net to do just that.

Started the project around noon that first day and it took 2 rockstar bird netting installers approximately 1.5 days total to get this bird netting installed.  Pictured are the 2 men installing the attachments and the cable around the perimeter that the net will attach to.

There were several sizes of netting needed for this project as there were places around the outside of one of the storage parts of the canopy that also needed covered.  Here you can see cables hanging down as they are being pulled through attachments to be tightened using turnbuckles

The bird netting has been started to attach to the cables.  There is a certain way to attach net so that it comes out the way we envision it.  One can't just attach all sides at once...it won't fit right.

Did you know that the corners and edges of the net can be the biggest weaknesses? Taking the time to do it right will ensure we at Midwest Bird Control are successful at the job we are contracted to do.

What types of properties require bird control in Wisconsin?

Bird control is commonly needed at manufacturing plants, warehouses, agricultural facilities, parking structures, rail locations, bridges, canopies, overhangs, and transportation infrastructure.

Which bird species cause the most problems in Wisconsin facilities?

The most common problem birds include pigeons, house sparrows, European starlings, and seagulls, especially near industrial corridors, ports, and large structures.

Why are canopies and overhangs frequent bird problem areas?

Canopies and overhangs provide shelter, overhead structure, and low disturbance, making them ideal roosting and nesting locations for pigeons and sparrows.

Do bridges and infrastructure require specialized bird control?

Yes. Bridges and infrastructure often require durable, professionally installed exclusion systems designed to withstand weather exposure and structural movement.

What bird control solutions work best in Wisconsin’s climate?

Effective solutions include industrial bird netting and structural exclusion systems designed to handle snow loads, freeze-thaw cycles, wind, and temperature extremes.

Can bird control be installed without disrupting operations?

Yes. Installations are planned around facility operations to minimize disruption while maintaining safety and access requirements.

Are bird control methods compliant with regulations?

Yes. All bird control services are performed in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, with methods selected based on site conditions and species involved.

How does a Wisconsin facility get started?

An assessment is conducted to evaluate bird activity, structure design, and operational needs before recommending a site-specific control plan.
