Proverbs 27:17...As Iron Sharpens Iron So Must One Man Sharpen Another

The bird netting project that started it all.
2004 my dad and I did our first job for mssu football stadium, wore out a corded hammer drill with 550 holes drilled and learning how to install bird netting. Lots of trial and error went into this job and I got a gift to spend 120 hours with my dad, 3 months before God took him home to heaven.

This probably wasn't the best job to learn on for our first bird netting project. Big thank you to Bird B Gone & Scott Swanson for their support or otherwise we wouldn't have got this project done. Here dad and i are learning how to wrap big nets around a pole.
(disclaimer: this was my first job on a big lift and at that time we didn't know about the training for using a lift properly with safety harnesses, the use of safety harnesses on jobsites now are not an option, they are required)

If you look closely you see my dad bracing the ladder underneath me as i am working to secure the netting to that part of the wall the lift could not reach. The challenging part of this project was that not only were the nets big and our first install but that the structure curved around.
I am reminded of all the times my dad supported me and as I started this work in this industry. If only he could see where God has taken this business since then.

This time i am supporting my dad as he hog rings the net to the perimeter cable. Pulling the netting as tight as i could so that he could secure it.
Oh man, the conversations, the laughs, the frustrations, just time with my dad. Lost my butt on this job in terms of $$$ but God gave me a gift of time well spent with my father before he left us & met his Heavenly Father face to face. Oh how I can imagine the awe as he gazed into the face of God!!!

Job completed late December 2004. Dad would come down on Thursday night from Iowa, help me on this job for 2-3 days, go to church with my wife and I on Sunday then drive home Sunday night. Did this every weekend until the job was completed. I will always cherish this project and the time i got to spend with my dad, John Jones. I had the true privilege and highest honor to preach at his funeral 3 months later.
The one thing my dad and I would like you to know...is how to get to heaven when you leave this earth, Email Trapper and ask the most important question of your life.

I revisited this job in May of 2017. 13 years later and the netting is still holding strong and if you went there today, you would see the netting still holding strong. Just to hold on to the netting again was amazing...i sat there awhile just staring at all the work and remembering the times.

We have come a long ways since 2004. This truck was the start of a new kind of life and work.

This picture taken January 11th, 2024 in my driveway. God has supplied the way for 20 years in this business and all the ups and downs. This is why we can say,
Birds Hate Us, Customers Love Us

Midwest Bird Control was built to solve a problem we saw repeatedly in the field — temporary bird fixes that don’t last. From day one, our focus has been on commercial, industrial, and agricultural facilities that need bird control done right the first time.
Our approach is simple: understand the structure, understand the bird behavior, and design a solution that eliminates the problem and prevents it from coming back. Every project is evaluated honestly, installed safely, and built for long-term performance — even when bird netting isn’t the right answer.
